A little theatre. A lot of handcraft.

For our third commission from Fortnum & Mason, we helped bring its new crumpet kiosk to life at Bicester Village. The project combined playful printed graphics, carefully matched colours and a bespoke illuminated arrow, handmade in our workshop.

Bringing the artwork to life

We assisted with artwork creation and colour matching, then produced and installed printed vinyl graphics across the kiosk’s interior and exterior.

Working at the kiosk manufacturer’s premises, we applied illustrated decals, wrapped shelves and fitted window coverings. Each element needed to work with the kiosk’s distinctive colours and detailing, carrying the character of the design around the structure.

An arrow made by hand

The centrepiece was a three-dimensional illuminated arrow carrying the word “Crumpets”.

Our founder, Brad, personally fabricated the complete acrylic structure in our workshop. Internal LEDs were arranged to distribute light evenly through the faces and sides, giving the curved arrow an all-round glow.

Getting the colour right required its own process. We printed a selection of greens onto translucent vinyl, then applied and assessed the samples individually on the illuminated acrylic until a satisfactory match was achieved. The arrow was then fully wrapped in the selected printed translucent vinyl.

It was a hands-on combination of fabrication, lighting and print: shaping the structure, balancing the illumination and refining the colour as one complete piece.

From our workbench to Bicester Village

Our involvement continued through to the evening delivery. We attended Bicester Village to help with the kiosk’s arrival, installed the illuminated arrow on site and commissioned its electrical connection.

From the first artwork adjustments to the final installation, we helped turn a distinctive creative concept into a finished piece of retail theatre.
